New Protocol: Teaching Novices Programming Using Robotics

Posted by Andy Burn (Durham) on 19 August 2010, 12:10

Louis Major is a PhD student (based at Keele University) currently investigating innovative methods that can be used in the teaching of computer language programming. Initial research has found how the use of Robots in such a context can help to promote a greater understanding of the subject and may overcome some of the difficulties that currently impact upon the successful teaching of it. The SLR that is to be performed will help to shape the future direction of the research project by providing an indication of research areas that have yet to be exploited.

Moreover, a true evaluation of the effectiveness of Robots to teach novices programming will be produced.

To support this research, he has produced a protocol for the SLR, which he has kindly made available to this website: Teaching Novices Programming Using Robotics v1.3.
