Richard Walker wins Ramsay Medal

(13 January 2012)

Dr Richard Walker has been awarded the Ramsay Medal by the Tectonic Studies Group at their Annual Meeting, held over Jan 4-6 in Edinburgh. The award is for his 2011 paper “Onshore evidence for progressive changes in rifting directions during continental break-up in the NE Atlantic” published in the Journal of the Geological Society, London (v168, 27-48; DOI: 10.1144/0016-76492010-021; co-authors Bob Holdsworth, Jonny Imber and Dave Ellis). The project was generously funded by Statoil (UK) Ltd. The Medal is awarded to the student judged to have written the best paper published in the previous year. This is the third year in a row that a Durham PhD student has won this international prize. Many congratulations, Richard.
