Jon Gluyas to Chair UK's carbon capture and storage working party
(20 May 2011)
Prof Jon Gluyas has been asked to be Chairman of the joint EPSRC/NERC working party on establishing a National Centre for Carbon Capture & Storage in the UK. This follows on from some work he did for DECC and BIS at the turn of the year. It is a big personal accolade for Jon and for Durham CCS as well – something built from nowhere 3 years ago to a point last year where Durham was named as one of the 3 leading centres (IC, Edinburgh, Durham) in the government (DECC) report to now a position of leadership in the UK. The invitation has come to Jon, though it is built upon the work and scientific innovation of many – Richard Davies, Simon Mathias, Susie Daniels as well as the post docs and PhD students.
