Departmental Disability Representatives
What are DDRs?
Departmental Disability Representatives (DDRs) are members of university staff who voluntarily take on the role of DDR in addition to their existing duties. Their role is to act as a departmental contact, for staff and students alike, in relation to any disability issue which may arise.
What do DDRs do?
Essentially, the DDRs provide a 'signposting' service to other support services within the university. In relation to disability issues, this usually involves close liaison with DUSSD. DDRs are 'disability aware' and, due to their departmental status, often have an insight into how the specific workings of their department may be reasonably adjusted to better support disabled students.
Are DDRs like College Senior Tutors?
No. The role of College Senior Tutors is different to that of a DDR. Neither should the role of DDR be confused with that of a Disability Adviser.
Current DDRs
The role of DDR is a voluntary commitment and is usually taken on for the duration of one academic year. Consequently, DDRs will change from time to time within a department. DUSSD will endeavour to keep this contact list as current as possible. In case of any problems, please contact DUSSD directly.
