Laing O'Rourke, one of the UK's leading construction companies, has been appointed to undertake the construction of the Gateway building.

Laing O'Rourke has worked with the University before on many key projects, including the Calman Learning Centre, Institute of Hazard and Risk Research and the Biological Sciences building. The company adopts fresh and innovative thinking in all its construction work, with particular concern for the environmental impact of work undertaken. A sustainability action plan will be implemented to ensure the sustainable procurement of goods and services for the new building. A waste minimisation strategy will both minimise waste and recycle wherever possible
