The Durham Project
The Durham Project is a multi-phase estates programme which aims to enhance Durham University's provision of world-class facilities for research, education, administration and community and cultural engagement, as well as enhance the overall City environment and opportunities.
The Project is a major catalyst in achieving our strategy to enhance our standing as one of the world's leading research-led Universities, and will ensure that we continue to attract the best staff and students from around the world to contribute to and diversify the University and the wider community.
The £60m Project entails developments in three key areas of Durham City:
- Gateway development, along Stockton Road, on the edge of the Science Site
- Palace Green, the Bailey and Old Elvet
The Project is not an expansion of the University but involves bringing together activities in a more coherent fashion and into fit-for-purpose buildings. Explore the site to find out more about these exciting developments.
