In the Parker group we are involved in the synthesis
and investigation of a variety of systems for use as analytical,
diagnostic and therapeutic agents in vivo and in vitro, typically using
chiral metal complexes.
This website gives details of current
and recent members of the Parker Group, as well as giving a brief outline
of the group research interests. We have included our leading references
should you wish to read further.
In addition, there are
pages giving information about our academic and industrial collaborators
both in the UK and throughout the rest of the world. Finally we have a
page with some informal photos of the group over the decades.

PhD Studentships in 2011/2012 are available in the Parker Group:
Two PhD studentships funded by the European Research Council (ERC) are available to work with Professor David Parker starting at any time after Oct 1 2011.
Funding for each project is available for a minimum of 39 months, (typically a minimum stipend of £14,150 p.a.). The projects involve the following aspects of functional coordination chemistry:
• Synthesis and development of chiral emissive probes for bio-imaging;
• Targeted optical probes for small compartments: synthesis and mechanism of action;
Candidates should possess a First class or 2-1 Masters degree (or its equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry/Biological Chemistry or Chemical Physics, and a strong interest in any of the following is desirable: imaging and sensing; NMR and MRI; synthetic chemistry; mechanistic aspects of coordination chemistry. You will join a strong and vibrant research group engaging in active collaborations with researchers in Tubingen, Turin, Glasgow, Alessandria and Mainz. For recent examples see:
