Nightline will be holding a Training Weekend on the 2nd-3rd June. This is an opportunity to learn more about issues that affect student welfare and to develop listening skills. The weekend consists of a series of talks by professional speakers who will cover topics such as acceptance, self and identity, bereavement, suicide and mental health. It will also include group sessions which offer the opportunity to develop listening skills.
Whether you are interested in becoming a Nightline volunteer or simply want to expand your knowledge you are welcome to attend the weekend. It is completely free to attend.
There are a limited number of places and so we are running three sign up sessions during which there will be a brief talk on what to expect from the weekend, followed by the opportunity to sign.
The sign up sessions will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 9th May in ER201, 7pm on Tuesday the 22nd May in CG93, and on the 30th May (time and location to be confirmed).
If you sign up for the Training Weekend, you are by no means obliged to then apply to become a Nightline Volunteer. The weekend is very useful in itself and provides an opportunity to gain some skills that will be useful whether or not you go on to become a volunteer.
