AEA Open Meeting: Colleges as scholarly communities
(2 April 2012)
Come to hear how you can make the most of what colleges offer to enhance your research and scholarship on Wednesday 25th April, 1-2pm in Room 202 of the Calman Learning Centre. The meeting will be led by Professor Graham Towl, Deputy Warden, who will discuss changes and developments in the 16 colleges to date and plans for the coming year.
This is a time of change for our colleges with five new Heads of College appointed in the last year and two further appointments to be made, as well as the appointment of four deputy heads of colleges division with remits for student experience, research, admissions and recruitment, and estates and facilities.
In addition a proposal to establish a Faculty of Colleges has been endorsed by UEC, Senate and Council. The past year has also seen a report on developing colleges as communities which support research. Professor Towl will discuss the nature of colleges as scholarly communities including the dual role of Heads of Colleges as scholarly leaders within colleges and active departmental researchers, and how the multidisciplinary nature of SCRs, MCRs and JCRs can enrich the learning and research environment.
