DEI academic invited speaker at Solar Flair 2011

(2 December 2011)

Dr Douglas Halliday was the final invited speaker for the main conference. Two Durham academics, Professor Tom McLeish and Dr David Sims-Williams also gave presentations at the networking reception event.

The main sponsor for the event was Durham Business & Innovation Service, who had a stand publicising the extensive business support available at Durham. DEI was noted as a UK centre of excellence in the welcome address by Councillor Neil Foster, Portfolio Holder, Economic Regeneration, Durham County Council.

Stewart Watkins, Managing Director of CDDC, said after the event: "This year's Solar Flair event has highlighted just how many opportunities there are in the solar industry for businesses to take advantage of. It was incredibly exciting to hear about some of the latest developments in the photovoltaic field from the people who are at the forefront of new technologies, many of them here in the North East."
