The Programme

The MA in the Photographic Image offers training in research methods and the development of knowledge, skills and understanding in the study of photography theory, history and analysis in intercultural perspective. Students take three core modules, one of which (the Dissertation) is a weighted at 120 credits.

Core modules:

  • Theorising History/Historicising Theory: An Introduction to Photography Studies (single module, 30 credits)
  • Dissertation (quadruple module, 120 credits)
  • Research Methods and Resources (single module, 30 credits)
