Cornfield Finished & Leaf-Bay Started
Saturday 5th November 2005
Hooray, the Cornfield is finished! Thanks to everyone's hard & skilful work on Saturday, especially when it came to missing frogs (pls see photo gallery for details), we had finished the weeding of the cornfield by the end of the morning.
So, for the afternoon we moved onto a new project which involved digging 3 x 2ft holes in the ground to take wooden posts, which, when they have boards between will be a storage place for lots of leaves (i.e. a Leaf-Bay)! This is not only for making a good compost, but prevents people slipping on paths as the leaves get stuck to them with mud in winter.
You might have thought this task was nice & easy, as we thought originally. However, when the holes consecutively contained stone, brick & tree roots, it was not that easy. Yet, it was done well by the afternoon group & then we had fun with the leave blower instead (the machines that literally blow leaves-very useful to get them off paths!) & raking up leaves.
Thanks to all who came-you did brilliantly! Please do check out the photos & add any comments you want.
