Undergraduate Study

Computers are continually transforming society. A degree in Computer Science from Durham will allow you to become one of the drivers of this change as we give you both a deep understanding of the fundamentals of computation and a knowledge of the latest emerging technologies. At Durham we value practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge, we give you the opportunity to work with external clients and you are supervised one-to-one on a year-long in-depth research project. 

You will also have the chance to work in industry on placement or study abroad. You will be taught by passionate researchers with diverse strengths in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, computer vision, bioinformatics, deep learning, high performance computing, graphics and fundamental algorithms, and you can choose your own focus as you progress through your degree. Our graduates have excellent job prospects and are very highly sought after. We have links both to the concentration of high-technology industries in the North East, and to national and international employers who advise us as we maintain our courses at the cutting edge. Our students have had internships or found graduate employment with companies such as Google, Microsoft and IBM.
