For over 20 years, SCA has served the needs of the community, responding to the requirements of the local area. We offer you, as Durham students, unique opportunities to get involved in a wide range of community projects; from working with children, the elderly, animals or the environment. These projects are all completely student-led, so you can have your say in what we do. In getting involved, you’ll meet many interesting people, have a positive impact on the local community, develop a new skill set, and ultimately challenge yourself.
Overseen by a student executive committee working alongside permanent staff and based in the student union, SCA has long been at the centre of the Durham student experience.
We work within Durham’s colleges, organising events and fundraising. Our College Ambassadors promote SCA and provide a point of contact between their respective college and SCA’s central team.
We also offer an exciting calendar of major fundraising events, including jazz nights and wine tasting evenings. Our annual oSCArs awards ceremony recognises and celebrates the commitment made by Durham students to the local community.
