Want to work for SCA next year?

As well as being overseen by the Student Executive Committee, SCA’s work is supported by two full-time sabbatical officers, one based in Durham and one at Queen’s Campus. Both roles involve working closely with the Exec, student project leaders and community partners to ensure all SCA’s volunteering projects run smoothly and safely. It is a great opportunity to get paid experience in the voluntary and community sector, and a really good way to develop a wide range of skills and experience for a future career.

The role involves facilitating the work of student volunteers through Student Community Action by providing support to volunteers, liaising with community partners and managing resources.

The role descriptions and application form are below, please note that the deadline is 5pm on Sunday 14th April 2013. Please email community.action@durham.ac.uk if you have any questions.

Welcome to Student Community Action, the home of student volunteering at Durham University. We’re here to respond to the needs of the local community, and to offer volunteering opportunities to Durham students.

SCA runs over 35 different student-led projects. Covering both Durham and Queen’s Campus, there’s a wide variety of opportunities to suit your interests, abilities and requirements.

We’re proud to be a student-led, student-focused organisation. Established in 1989, we aim to support the local community, and offer a unique volunteering experience to Durham students. It’s easy to get involved, whether participating in a project as a volunteer or leader, standing for election to the exec, or representing SCA in your college.

If you’re interested in any of the projects advertised on these pages, e-mail us at community.action@dur.ac.uk, contact us on Facebook, or drop into the office in the DSU.
