Responsibilities

Claire has responsibility for the strategic development of the University’s online communications, with a primary focus on the University website, but also managing the University’s profile and reputation on other digital sources. Claire works closely with senior management on the University's future web development plans, as well as leading an ongoing programme of market research and analysis. She also provides training and support to the University's departments and colleges.

Objectives

Claire is tasked with leading on a programme of change to our web presence, working on an institutional social media strategy and developing the newly created video production framework. She is also working on further development of rich media content online, mobile apps and the formalisation of an institution-wide CRM strategy.

Background

Claire built up extensive experience of both new and traditional media while working as an editor at Oxford University Press. Since moving back to the University in 2005 as Web Marketing Officer, Claire has continued to develop both her theoretical and practical knowledge of Marketing, and was awarded the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing in 2007. In 2008, one of her online video projects received a gold award from the International Visual Communications Association. 

Claire speaks French, German and Italian, holding a first degree in Modern Languages from Durham, and an MPhil in European Literature from Oxford.

Personal

Claire is currently training for the Great North Run, supplementing the running with a weekly programme of cycling, swimming, Pilates (and chocolate). Claire also enjoys travelling, photography and learning new languages (Arabic being the latest addition...).
