Events management
Durham University special events generate publicity, strengthen positive relationships, recognise service and achievement, provide important information and assist the university in fund raising and enhancing its market position. The university hosts or participates in hundreds of special events each year: dinner dances, campus visitation programs, seminars, symposia, dedications, sports events, anniversaries, award presentations, ceremonies, festivals and trade shows.
The Events Team manages a full calendar of corporate events and VIP visits to the university on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. These also include:
- Celebratory and recognition events for staff and students
- Regional and business events
- 175 anniversary events in 2007
- Events for honorary degree recipients.
We also manage key strategic events for the Development & Alumni office, the Research & Economic Development Support Services, the Secretariat and Senior Officers.
Other events that take place annually include academic occasions organised by departments, celebratory activities organised by students/colleges and reunion events for our alumni organised by our alumni association in conjunction with the Development Office.
Where appropriate, the
Events Team can offer practical advice on how to maximise your event
opportunities. We can provide guidance on all aspects of your event,
from university venue; suppliers; planning and preparation; styling;
guest lists, to expected etiquette during your event.
