Council Member Reflection
There are two main areas in which University Council has had an impact on me while I’ve been working at Durham: as a DAUT/DUCU committee member since 2001, and as Senior Tutor of Ustinov College, Durham’s postgraduate college. Because of my experience in both of these areas, I decided to put my name forward as a possible staff representative. I was appointed in September 2006 as one of the two non-academic staff members on Council.
My particular interest is in the university’s internationalisation plans. It’s important that issues such as integration and the provision of a quality experience for international and postgraduate students are considered as an equal priority to increasing student numbers.
