Mr Alistair Buchanan, CBE, FCA, BA

Alistair is Chief Executive Officer for Ofgem (GB’s energy regulator) London and a member of the Energy Research Partnership and the Business Energy Forum. Previously he was a Non Executive Director of Scottish Water. As CEO of Ofgem he acts as Chairman of both the Large Energy Users Group and the SME Energy Users Group. Alistair was awarded a CBE in 2008.

From 1988-2003 Alistair was employed as either Head of Research or an award winning investment analyst, both in London and New York. His GB electricity privatisation research was chosen by the British Library as the official record. He was involved in a central role in all of the key GB privatisations through the 1990’s, and as an advisor to many overseas corporate transactions and deals. He qualified as Chartered Accountant with KPMG.

Alistair joined the University Council as a lay member on 1 August 2010 and is a member of Remuneration Committee.
