Professor Graham Towl DSc MBA FBPsS C. Psychol. AcSS

Professor Graham Towl is a forensic psychologist.  He is a member of the University Executive Committee and also of Senate. He has lead responsibility for the colleges of Durham University. He is currently undertaking research in the areas of risk and resilience. Prior to his current appointment he undertook teaching and research in psychology whilst also working as the college Principal at St Cuthberts' Society, Durham University. Before returning to Durham he was the Chief Psychologist at the Ministry of Justice and Home Office providing policy advice.  Previously he was the first Head of Psychological Services to take responsibility for the professional leadership of all psychologists working in the prison and probation services.  His research interests include; prisoner suicide, risk assessment, ethics, the evaluation of interventions and mental health.  He is widely published in the forensic field and the recipient of the British Psychological Society's Award for Distinguished Contributions to Professional Practice.  He is Editor in Chief of Evidence Based Mental Health (EBMH) which is published by British Medical Journals. 

Graham is in attendance at Council meetings.
