The best way to find out more about living and studying at Durham University is to come on one of our pre-application open days. We run pre-application open days in both Durham City and at Queen's Campus.
These events will provide an opportunity for those interested in Durham University to gain a real insight into the Durham student experience. Departments, colleges and other student support services and facilities will be available for talks, tours and demonstrations. There is also likely to be a limited amount of University managed accommodation available. Places will be limited and therefore pre-booking will be required. For further information please visit http://www.durham.ac.uk/study/visit/
There is normally an opportunity to meet staff from your chosen department in which you wish to study on the day, and you will be able to view our facilities.
For those who are unable to attend one of the open days, the department will provide smaller scale opportunities to visit later on, please see below for further information.
If you would like to visit Durham to find out about specific departments, please contact the relevant department to arrange a visit. You may wish to tie this in with a University campus tour held every Wednesday afternoon.
Combined Honours offer briefing sessions throughout the year for prospective applicants and for those who have already submitted an application. These sessions are usually scheduled in such a way that you can take part in one of the centrally-organised 'Campus Tours' during your visit to the University. Campus tours get booked up well in advance, so you are advised to book early. You are welcome to attend one of our briefing sessions without attending a Campus Tour and there is also a 'self-guided' campus tour available.
If we send you an acceptance or conditional offer we will invite you to an open day. After visiting Durham, we will then discuss with you which modules you wish to study. If your application is successful we will contact you about which modules you wish to study in the August before you come here.
