Combined Honours

Our standard entry requirements

We normally make the following standard offers:

  • GCE A level: A* A A
  • Scottish Advanced Highers: A1 (in a specified subject) and A A
  • International Baccalaureate: 38 points (666 at higher level)

We do not include General Studies or Critical Thinking in our offers.

If you are studying in the USA, we will make an unconditional offer if you have already achieved high grades during your high school education. We usually expect applicants to have achieved a minimum of 650 in the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I and SAT II) or equivalent scores in other reasoning and subject tests. We also expect to see high grades achieved or predicted for the High School Diploma.

We will also consider a wide range of other qualifications from the UK and the rest of the world, so long as you can show levels of achievement in a range of subjects comparable to those indicated above.

We may require an A or an equivalent grade in a particular subject, if you are studying more than three subjects, and if these grades are ‘pre-requisites' for taking modules in one of the subjects which you wish to study at Durham.

If English is not your first language, and if the last two years of your education have not been delivered through the medium of English, we will require you to demonstrate that you are proficient in English by achieving an IELTS score of at least 6.5 (with no component below 6.0) or an equivalent English language qualification.
