As a student, do I get to live in the college every year?
All first years live in. Throughout the history of the College, no finalist who asked for accommodation by the relevant deadline has been turned away. We expect this situation to continue, but this doesn't constitute a guarantee. Thus, you can expect to live in during your first year and again in your final year if you want. In between, you will probably have to find private accommodation, but there are sometimes rooms available for non-finalist students.
How do I specify that I want to come to Collingwood on my UCAS form?
Simply enter the number 1 in the campus code box next to your application to Durham.
What are my chances of getting to Collingwood if I put it down on my UCAS form?
We currently admit about 300 students each year. Just over 2000 applicants named us as their first choice last year. However, your chances of an offer are rather better than these figures might at first glance suggest. The College makes just over 1000 offers every year, so the statistical average for getting an offer is about 1 in 2. The ratio is different for different subjects, so it may be easier or harder to get in for your subject.
Will specifying a popular college, such as Collingwood, on my UCAS form affect my chances of getting an offer from Durham?
No. If your department decide that you are promising enough to merit an offer, you will receive one. If your first choice College cannot make you an offer, then your application will be passed to other Colleges, until it reaches one that is able to make the offer.
