Hockey Club

Collingwood is one of the most dominant colleges in Hockey for both women and men over the past several years. With the women having won the double in both the intercollegiate cup and league last year, and the men finishing 2nd in the premiership the last 3 seasons, the standard is not to be knocked. It is however, available to everyone of all standards. Players who have little previous experience do end up in the A team, with other teams in the cups to provide matches for the less commited members. Training is once a week, with about 20 games throughout the season for the A-teams. There is great rivalry between Collingwood and Hatfield, which adds extra excitement and competiveness throughout the season.

It is about hockey, but also about having fun too! The social aspect of the team is what keeps it strong. As squads are not too big, there is a strong bond between everyone and we all get on well on and off the pitch. Hockey socials are notoriously amazing! They happen on a regular basis with spontaneous nights out after good victories too. Mixed socials with other sports also add variety. They are not to be missed and provide excellent team bonding. There is also the very funny summer sevens which is just a massive laugh after exams.

So even if you are not sure whether to start up, bring your stick anyway because you probably will end up wanting to play!
