Collingwood has two music rooms and a recording studio, managed by the JCR's Music Room Officer.

Music Studio

Collingwood has a recently refurbished music studio located at the base of York block, behind the dining hall.

Facilities

The studio is broken in to three rooms, a small practice room and second room with a window to the recording booth. Access to the recording booth is restricted to those who have undergone a training course, which is provided free of charge by the JCR Music Room Officer.

Instruments

A limited number of instruments are permently located in the music studio for the use of others, further to this users are welcome to bring their own instruments.

Recording

The music studio features a full recording and mixing facility including the following equipment:

• 32 channel mixing desk
• Computer with various software packages for recording with 24bit  M-Audio Delta soundcard
  
• Ballanced audio lines routed into the mixing desk from the two practice rooms
• Studio monitors
• SM57 microphones (for instruments)
• SM58 microphones (for vocals or general use)
• MIDI in/out
• Two NCPS machines, one with an advanced sound card
