Research in Colleges

University College

University College is developing strong links with a diversity of departments, including SGIA and IMRS. It has a vibrant postgraduate community. Prestigious UC lecture series include the Durham Castle and Cutting Edge series. There are close links with the IAS and the College hosts regular fellows. A particularly strong link will be built to the new Institute of Global Policy, once it is up and running.

The Durham Castle Lecture Series hosts major figures from outside of the University on a regular basis. To view the full programme for 2012/13 please click here.

The Cutting Edge Lecture Series hosts members of the University College Senior Common Room who offer presentations on their leading research. To view the series for current academic year please click here.

In addition, there is a workshop series for doctoral students who have just completed their PhDs. This gives speakers the opportunity to present their work to their peers.

University College is a vibrant scholarly community that builds on the activities of all Common Rooms: JCR, MCR and the SCR. While the SCR can provide academic guidance to the College Community as a whole, there is a new scheme in place which connects the MCR and the JCR on matters requiring academic guidance.
