Keeping your machine safe

Information in this section tells you how you can protect your machine:

• Locking it: so people can't access your files or go and make mischief under your username and password
• Anti-virus protection: software packages that provide protection from infections like worms and trojans
• Anti-spyware: software packages protecting you from unwanted pop-ups, re-directs and key-loggers
• Firewalls: adding a protective boundary between your machine and the network you're working on

As with other areas in the Security section, we've provided a number of links to other websites (like security software suppliers) which we think may be useful.  We give these in good faith but ultimately cannot be held responsible for the content of other people's websites.
