IT Governance within the University
The IT Strategy sets out the governance structures for IT.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is accountable to the Head of Professional Services for the delivery of IT and the IT Strategy. The Head of Professional Services is accountable to the Vice Chancellor, who is in turn accountable to Council.
We have an IT Steering Group (ITSG) which is chaired by an academic member of the University Executive Committee. The ITSG is a specialist group which provides advice to UEC and the CIO, and helps the CIO to ensure IT planning and delivery across the University is joined up. ITSG reports to UEC.
The IT Steering Group will create sub-groups as required. Currently there are two sub-groups:
-
IT Users Group is a forum for users across the university to have input to the implementation of the IT Strategy and feedback on the effectiveness of IT provision.
- Web Editors Board involves departments, colleges and sections in changes and developments to our institutional web presence, and allows feedback to be channelled back to IT Steering Group.
