How do I add a secondary mailbox in Office 365 OWA?
To add a secondary mailbox in OWA.
- Click Options | See All Options
- Click See emails from all your accounts in one place
- Click New
- Add the required email address and password
- Click Next - on successful completion you will see the following message
Your accounts are now connected. You'll see mail from your other account soon.
To view the account, return to the Mail section of OWA
How do I configure IMAP for an Office 365 account?
Outlook 2010
- From Outlook click on File Account Settings | Account Settings
- Click New
- Select the Email Account option and click Next
- Select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types otpion and click Next
- Select the Internet Email option and click Next
- Add you name and email address, set the Account Type to IMAP
- Set the Incoming and SMTP server addresses to pod51016.outlook.com
- Add you User Name in the format username@durham.ac.uk
- Add your Durham password and leave the option to remember the password ticked
- Click More Settings
- Change the name of the Mail Account if required
- From the Advanced tab change the Incoming server port to 993 and set the encryption to SLL. Change the Outgoing port to 587 and set the encryption to TLS
- From the Outgoing Server tab, enable the option My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires aythentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server
- Click OK then Next
- Close the Test Account Settings dialogue box and click Finish then Close to complete the configuration
Thunderbird 17.x
- From the menu toolbar select Tools | Account Settings
- Using the Account Options drop-down menu, choose Add Mail Account
- Add you name email address and password, enable the option to Remember password and click Continue
- Set the Incoming server type to IMAP, add pod51016.outlook.com as the Server hostname and set the port to 993
- Add pod51016.outlook.com as the SMTP Sever hostname and set the port to 587
- Add your Username in the format username@durham.ac.uk
- Test the account configuration then click Done then OK
Mac Mail
- From Mac Mail, click on Mail | Preferences
- Click the Account tab then the + symbol at the bottom left of the Accounts window
- Add your name and email and password then click Continue
- Set the Account Type to IMAP and add a description for the account
- Add pod51016.outlook.com as the Incoming Server Name
- Add your User Name in the format username@durham.ac.uk and your Password then click Continue
- For the Outgoing Mail Server add a Description and pod51016.outlook.com as the server address
- Enable the Use Authentication option then click Continue
- Ensure the Take account online option is ticked and click Create
- Close the Accounts Window - your account will now be enabled
How do I configure Mac Mail to connect to Office 365?
Prior to configuring your email client, you will need to log into office365.dur.ac.uk to find the correct host address for Office 365. Once logged into Office 365, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the ?, top right of the OWA screen. Select About and look for the line Host address: https://xxxxxxxxx.outlook.com/owa. Note down the address, you will need it for step 5 below.
- Start Mac Mail enter your name, email address and password then click Continue - if you've previously used Mac Mail, go to Mail | Preferences to add a new account
- Click Create to setup your new account
- The configuration screen will return getting start section. Enter your Durham username in the following format - username@durham.ac.uk and click Continue until you see the Incoming Server box
- Select Exchange from the Account Type: dropdown box
- Add the incoming server address using the data from OWA e.g. if the Host address is https://amsprd0610.outlook.com/owa - the Incoming Mail Server should be amsprd0610.outlook.com. Ensure that Contacts and Calendars are ticked and click Continue
- Ensure that Take account online is selected and click Create
Your Office 365 Calendar and Contacts will also be available in the corresponding applications on your Mac.
The above settings are for Mac OS X 10.8.x and Mac Mail 6.2.
How do I configure Microsoft Outlook for Mac to connect to Office 365?
Prior to configuring your email client, you will need to log into office365.dur.ac.uk to find the correct host address for Office 365. Once logged into Office 365, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the ?, top right of the OWA screen. Select About and look for the line Host address: https://xxxxxxxxx.outlook.com/owa. Note down the address, you will need it for step 7 below.
- Start Outlook and go to Tools | Accounts
- Click the Exchange Account option
- Enter your Office 365 email address e.g. joe.bloggs@durham.ac.uk
- Check the Authentication Method is set to Username and Password
- Enter your username in the format username@durham.ac.uk address in the User name: text box
- Enter your Office 365 password and uncheck the option to Configure automatically
- Add the incoming server address using the data from OWA e.g. if the Host address is https://amsprd0610.outlook.com/owa - the Incoming Mail Server should be htttps://amsprd0610.outlook.com/EWS/Exchange/Exchange.asmx
- Click Add Account
- When prompted, opt to Always use my response for this server then click Allow
- Close the Accounts window and begin using Outlook
How do I configure Microsoft Outlook to connect to Office 365?
Prior to configuring your email client, you will need to log into office365.dur.ac.uk to find the correct host address for Office 365. Once logged into Office 365, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the ?, top right of the OWA screen. Select About and look for the line Host address: https://xxxxxxxxx.outlook.com/owa. Note down the address, you will need it for steps 6 & 11 below.
- From the Control Panel click the Mail icon
- Click Show Profiles then Add
- Enter a name for your profile e.g. Office 365
- Select the option to Manually configure server settings and click Next
- Select the Microsoft Exchange option and click Next
- Add the server address from the data obtained from OWA, so if the Host address is https://dbxprd0610.outlook.com/owa then the server address should be set to dbxprd0610.mailbox.outlook.com
- Enable the Use Cached Exchange Mode option
- Add your email address e.g. joe.bloggs@durham.ac.uk then click More Settings
- Click the Connection tab then enable the Outlook Anywhere option to connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
- Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button
- Add the https:// address from the data obtain via OWA, so if the Host address is https://dbxprd0610.outlook.com/owa then the https address should be dbxprd0610.outlook.com
- Enable the option to Only connect to proxy servers... and add msstd:outlook.com
- Enable the option On fast networks, connect using HTTP first...
- Ensure the authentication setting is set to Basic Authentication
- Click OK then Apply then OK
- Click the Check Name button
- Click OK when prompted then click Check Name again and enter your password, opt to Remember your password then click OK
- Click OK then Next then Finish then you can start Outlook and access your Office 365 account
How do I configure my mobile device to connect to Office 365?
Apple iPhone
When configuring your iPhone for Office 365, if the device has been configured to synchronise Contacts and Calendar with you Mac or PC you may lose any existing data on the device. Once your phone has been configured, you may need to change the Default Account for Contacts and Calendars via Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendar
- Go to the Settings Screen
- Scroll down and select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Select Add Account
- Select the Microsoft Exchange option
- Now enter your full email address e.g. joe.blogs@durham.ac.uk and Password and click Next
- Enter m.outlook.com in the Server text box
- Leave the Domain text box blank
- In the Username text box add your username in the following format username@durham.ac.uk
- Change the description to a name you would like the account to be known by, for example Work
- Click Next
You can select what you want to synchronise now the account has been added, the options are, Mail, Contacts and Calendars, select Done to confirm your selection.
Nokia Symbian OS
In order to access your Office 365 email on your Nokia phone you will need to configure the Mail for Exchange Application. New phones will come with Mail for Exchange installed, older devices will need to download it from the Nokia OVI Store. The following instructions have been tested on the Nokia E5.
- From the Home Screen select the Set up email option then click the Start option
- Enter your Durham University email address
- Enter your password
- Select Mail for Exchange
- Enter your username
- Leave the domain option blank
- When prompted, enter m.outlook.com as the Mail for Exchange Server and click Next
- Click OK to accept the Sync warning message
- Select the appropriate items to synchronise then click Next
- Accept the website certificate permanently
- If prompted select Internet "Contract WAP" as the connection type
Your phone will now automatically synchronise with your Exchange account. To receive new email notifications on your homescreen, select Setup email notification, set Mailbox as Mail for Exchange, then locate and select your Inbox.
Windows Phone 8
To configure a Windows Phone 8 device to access Office 365 email, calendar and contacts, please follow the instructions below. The instructions have been tested on a HTC 8X device running Windows Phone 8.0.
- Navigate to the Settings menu and select Email + Accounts
- Select Add an account and select Outlook
- Enter your Durham University Email address
- Enter your password
- Select sign in
- Change your username to your username@durham.ac.uk
- Leave the domain option blank, select sign in
- At the prompt select the advanced option
- Enter m.outlook.com into the server option, select show all settings and confirmed that the option Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection is enabled
- Select sign in
Android
To access your Office 365 email, contacts and calendar on your Android phone please following the instructions below. Due to the nature of the Android platform configuration can vary by device, the instructions below have been tested on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, running Android 4.2.1.
- Open the email application
- Enter your email address and password
- Click the Manual setup box and choose Exchange as the account type
- In the Domain: username box, replace any text with \your username@durham.ac.uk
- In the Exchange server box, replace any text with m.outlook.com
- Ensure the SSL option is ticked and click Next
- If prompted, click OK to accept the remote admin message
- Amend any account options as required and click Next
- When prompted, click Activate
- Give your new account a name e.g. Durham and click Next
Blackberry
To access your Office 365 email on your Blackberry, please following the instructions below. The instructions below have been tested on a Blackberry Curve 9360 running version 7.1 of the operating system.
- From the Blackberry email application select Options then Email Account Options
- Select to Add annother email address
- Choose the Other option
- Add your CIS email address and password then Continue
- Select OK when propmpted and scroll down the screen until you see I will provide the settings - select this option
- Choose POP/IMAP (Most common) as the email type
- Add m.outlook.com as the email server
- Add your username@durham.ac.uk as the User name then Continue
- From Systems Settings select Acounts: Set up email, contacts, calendar
- Select Add Account then Email, Calendar and Contacts
- Add your Durham email address then select Next
- Add your password then select Next
- The configuration will fail, click the Advanced button at the bottom of the screen
- Select the Exchange ActiveSync option
- Add a description for your account e.g. Office 365
- Change the username to the following format yourusername@durham.ac.uk
- Add m.outlook.com as the Server Address
- Leave all the other settings as they are by default and click Next
- Choose the required ActiveSync option and click Done
