Campus Card Replacement Policy

You should take care not to lose your Campus Card, as the policy for replacing the card is to charge £5 each time. This charge will not be made if your card has been stolen and a Police crime report can be produced as proof.

If you lose your Campus Card, please notify CIS immediately, via the IT Service Desk, email (itservicedesk@durham.ac.uk).

You will need to come to the IT Service Desk (in Durham or Queen's Campus) to be issued with a replacement card.

If your 'lost' Campus Card is found at a later date, it will not be usable on the system as it will have been disabled as part of the replacement procedure.

All 'lost' cards that are subsequently found after the replacement card procedure has been invoked, must be destroyed.

As soon as the IT Service Desk receives your notification of a lost Campus Card, your existing Campus Card will be disabled and no longer valid.

CIS will disable further use of the lost Campus Card so that if it has been stolen or is found by someone else, it cannot be used for access control or borrowing books.

The policy for replacing a damaged Campus Card is to charge £5 each time. Please see the following for guidelines on how to look after your Campus Card.

Providing these guidelines are followed, Campus Cards are expected to last at least three years however after this time, cards that are damaged through normal wear and tear and no longer work, may be replaced free of charge.

If your Campus Card expires whilst you are still a member of the University a replacement card will be issued to you free of charge (providing you hand in your old card). If you are moving away from Durham for a period of time you must ensure you exchange your Campus Card before leaving, as it is policy not to post out Campus Cards for security reasons.
