The Centre for Industrial Automation & Manufacture (CIAM), based in the University of Durham, UK, consists of a number of full-time academic staff whose research interests include work of direct relevance to the development of techniques for the advancement of Industrial Automation and excellence in Manufacture. Centre members pursue their work in a variety of ways, but all share both a belief that their work must be of industrial relevance, and a drive and committment to seeing their work through to an economic and commercially viable implementation.
NEWS**: We are now recruiting for the Short Courses in Operations Strategy (Jan '06) and Innovative Design (Feb '06).
Current projects receive funding from SERC, the EU and industry sources. Their total value at presence is in excess of £2m and the centre employs Research Assistants, KTP Associates and supports 7 research students, including part-time students in local companies.
Technology Transfer is also a major activity of the Centre, through workshops, short industrial courses, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and industry-based project work with undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The Centre also supports a Masters, Postgraduate Dipoma & Postgraduate Certificate course.
