Choral Society is delighted to offer a number of places in October 2010. If you are a keen singer, and seek to enjoy the wonderful opportunities this society offers, please sign up for a short, friendly audition.
Auditions will take place on Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th and Friday 8th of October between times of 7 and 9pm. Auditions are held at both the Queen's Court Music Department, 2 North Bailey, and the Applebey Lecture Theatre (W103) on the science site.
Please come and find us at the Freshers' Fair and sign up for a time slot. It is essential that you sign up as this is the only opportunity all year for you to audition. For further information about signing up at the Freshers' Fair please contact the Society: Contact us .
Please check the rehearsal and concert dates in the 'Members' section of this site to make sure you are available for all the dates and times listed. You will notice that we do not have many rehearsals for each concert and your regular attendance is essential.
While most people find auditions daunting there is nothing to fear! The auditions consist of a few scales to assess your range, some sight-reading and a few aural tests. They are taken by members of the executive committee: no one too scary! You must be able to read music and some previous singing experience would be useful, but is by no means essential.
Above all, remember that we know exactly what auditions are like, having sat them ourselves only one or two years ago. Though we try and help singers to relax, the committee understands that some people may be nervous. Don't worry, you'll be fine!
Successful applicants will be notified by email.
Good luck!
