Positions are open to anyone wishing to play an active role in the society. The committee meets 2-3 times a term, and whilst everyone has their own specific role, the exec. work as a team to promote and run the society. Being part of the exec. is enormously rewarding and looks good on a CV or job application. Below is a brief description of the tasks each exec. member performs throughout the year:
President - Chair exec. meetings; Re-ratify the society. Run Freshers' Fair. Organise Auditions.
Secretary - Minute exec. meetings. Produce registers and maintain members lists.
Student Treasurer - Collect subs and deposit cheques (in collaboration with the Senior Treasurer). Print and sell tickets. Sort out the float for on-the-door sales. Liase with Senior Treasurer over financial matters.
Librarian - Borrow, return and look after scores and orchestral parts. Ensure none are lost.
Concert Managers - Organise the venues for concerts inc. staging, lighting and stewarding. Manage front of house.
Sponsorship - Find sources of sponsorship for the society. Collect adverts to be printed in the programme.
Publicity - Design and print posters and programmes for the concert. Organise the distribution of posters throughout the City and University.
Social - Organise the refreshments during the practices. Organise post-concert parties and other social events.
Patrons - Inform our Honorary Vice Presidents of the society's forthcoming concerts. Write to parents to promote their involvement and seek their support as patrons.
