Chemistry Undergraduate Admissions

Foundation year

The Foundations in Chemistry course is a one year course designed for students that wish to study a chemistry degree but do not possess the correct qualifications to enter directly on to the undergraduate program.  It is provided by Durham University's Foundation Centre as part of an integrated program to widen participation in Higher Education.  It is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully pursue degree level studies.  The Foundation Chemistry modules cover the major themes in chemistry such as; Atomic structure, The Periodic Table and Periodicity, Reaction kinetics, Equilibria and Organic chemistry.  Course delivery is through a combination of classroom teaching and practical laboratory sessions at the Durham City campus and Queen's campus, Stockton.
