The Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice (CCLCJ) provides an international forum for research and postgraduate education drawing together doctrinal, socio-legal, criminological, sociological and psychological approaches to crime, criminal law and criminal justice. It is a collaborative research centre, with academics drawn from the Law School and the School of Applied Social Sciences, who work alongside others, with the express aim of providing an environment to foster interdisciplinary research and links with practitioners across criminal law and criminal justice. As well as fostering a vibrant research environment, the centre regularly organises themed conferences and seminars and promotes the creation of long-term research projects, links and publications.

Professor Michael Bohlander's book "Principles of German Criminal Law" translated into Farsi

Professor Bohlander's treatise on the Principles of German Criminal law has been translated into Farsi by Asli Abbasi and published in Iran by Majdlaw Publishers in 2011 (ISBN 978-600-193-054-6). After the translation of his book on the German Criminal Code was published by Majdlaw Publishers in 2010, this is his second volume on German criminal law that was made available in that language.

Volkswagen Foundation Award for Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice

The Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice has been awarded a grant of € 26,700 by the German Volkswagen Foundation under its highly competitive programme "Deutsch plus - Wissenschaft ist mehrsprachig". The programme aims, among other things, at facilitating the dissemination of knowledge about important current German publications by their translation into foreign languages. The grant is meant to cover the costs for the translation of Professor Thomas Vormbaum's book on the history of German criminal law, "Einführung in die Strafrechtsgeschichte", 2nd ed., 2011, into English. The translation will be overseen by Professor Michael Bohlander.

"The German Criminal Code" by Michael Bohlander translated into Farsi.

Professor Bohlander's translation of the German Criminal Code (Hart Publishing, 2008) has itself recently been translated into Farsi by Asli Abbasi: "Ghanoon Mojazat Alman" (Majdlaw  Publishers, 2010, ISBN 978-964-2955-83- www.majdlaw.com and www.hvm.ir ). This is the first time the German Criminal Code has been translated into Farsi.
