    Chaplaincy Dinners
The Chaplaincy hosts dinners to welcome visiting priests to Durham.  Students gather in the afternoon to prepare a meal, before praying Vespers and Mass together, with our visitor often preaching the sermon. Everyone then enjoys a delicious home cooked dinner before pitching in with the washing-up! We say Compline to round off the evening. We have recently enjoyed the company of Fr Mark Lyden-Smith, Vocations Adviser at the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, and of fr Tim Gardner OP, the Religious Education Advisor to the Catholic Education Service.

    CathSoc Feeding Station

When a Chaplaincy Dinner isn’t being held, CathSoc often runs a Feeding Station after the 6:30 PM Student Mass. People might have to miss college dinner to get to Mass on time, and so we provide snacks like hot dogs and burgers to anyone who wants them, in return for a small contribution towards the price of the food.

    Pancake Party

In conjunction with DUECC (Durham University Ecumenical Christian Council), CathSoc runs a pancake party on Shrove Tuesday, with a whole variety of savoury and sweet toppings to choose from. It’s also a great opportunity to meet students from Durham’s many other churches.
