|Welcome||Notices||The Chaplain & Chapel Officers||Services||Music||History|
I do hope that everyone who attended Chapel Dinner on Monday enjoyed the meal; thank you to everyone who came and made it such a lovely occasion. Any profits we make from the dinner will be donated to help those who aren't able to afford a meal for themselves. On this note, we'll be having special collections at our services on Sunday and at the carol service for the Children's Society, or as an alternative you might like to bring a food donation for the Durham Food Bank.
Advent is now fully underway, and I pray that you will all find time to pause and reflect for a while amidst the busy rush at the end of term to anticipate of the celebrations to come. Advent does, of course, commemorate the darkness before the coming of a great light, but need not by any means be a time devoid of music and joy: do come in from the winter's cold to our remaining services and celebrate with us the end of term, coming of the festive season and the love of God for us all.
Thursday at 6pm: Evensong in the Tunstal Chapel. Revd. Chris Howson will end our series on the Christian University by talking to us about Education and Justice, accompanied by seasonal readings from Isiah and Revelation and music from the choir. The service finishes in time for the Christmas formal.
Sunday at 11am: Holy Communion in the Tunstal Chapel. Our final Communion of term, followed as usual by drinks in the Tunstal Gallery with readings from Isiah, Romans and Matthew.
Sunday at 6.30pm: Christingle in the Norman Chapel. A very fun, interactive service in which we'll make Christingles by decorating oranges with sweets and candles and celebrate the light of Christ shining around the world!
Tuesday at 5pm: College Carol Service in the Tunstal Chapel. Join us for what is always the most popular service of the year, with Nine Lessons and Carols to recall the Christmas story in a festively decorated chapel. Arrive early if you want to be sure of a seat! Mince Pies and Mulled Wine will follow.
As ever, everyone is welcome at all our services. Don't hesitate to contact anyone on the chapel committee if you have any queries. If you'd like to come with us to Shepherd's Dene next year, please collect a letter from the back of chapel and hand your deposit to a chapel officer before term ends.
This is the last email of term, so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and meaningful Advent, Christmas and New Year! Enjoy the end of term, and peace be with you all.
