Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre

Individual appointments

Individual appointments are available to undergraduates, postgraduates and graduates at the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre (Careers Centre). You will find more information in this section of the website about how to make an appointment. During term-time, particularly Michaelmas, we are very busy and demand for appointments is high.

If you are a PhD student you can email June Kay (Careers Development Consultant) directly to arrange an appointment.

You can book an appointment with a Careers Adviser using the link below. If you have not used the service before please refer to the information on making an appointment to find out more about the online appointment system.

Career choice...where to start?

A lot of initial career exploration can be done using a variety of on-line resources that are available on our website, particularly the section on career planning and research.  This type of careers research will help you before you have an appointment with a Careers Adviser. The Information Staff in the Careers Centre can help you to use these and other available careers resources as well as answer general questions that you may have.

“The Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre is very welcoming and resourceful. As going from Theology to Dentistry is such a big change, I decided to ask for some advice and a practise interview (having 3 interviews coming up!). The help I received was brilliant. The Careers Adviser could not have been more helpful, his questions were pretty much exactly what I got in the real thing. I felt much more confident and better prepared for my interviews, gaining places at all three institutions and deciding on Manchester! I am so helpful for all the help I got."”

Olivia Barratt, BA (Hons) Theology

Printing

Durham students - please be aware that you need to have printing units with CIS in order to be able to print anything within the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre.  If you are coming for an appointment to discuss your CV you need to have a printed copy with you.  Please either arrive with enough time before your appointment to print your document off or print it before you arrive.  If you take time during your appointment to print off any documents then this will result in less time for you speaking with the adviser.

Accessibility

The Careers Centres in Durham City and Queen's Campus are both accessible by wheelchair. Should you have any other concerns about accessing the Careers Centre, please contact the Careers, Employability and Enterprise Centre to discuss these.

Distance Learners

As a distance learner you will be able to log in to the system and book your own Quick Query.  Please be aware that if you are located away from Durham you will need to telephone the Careers Centre to book a telephone appointment.  Please call 0191 3341437 to do this.
