Butler is the newest college in the university and can be found next to Ustinov college on South road. It is about a 10 minute walk to the science site or about 20 minutes to get into town. If it is raining or you are running late then the park and ride bus stops just outside college and you can get a day pass for £1 with a Butler campus card.
The centerpiece of the college is a large mound which is where our college mascot, the mole lives. In daylight you can climb to the top of the mound to see great views of town and the surrounding areas.
The main activities of the college are all based around the Butler building which houses our bar. Next to the Butler building is the Howlands building. This is shared between Butler and Ustinov colleges. In the center of this there is a very large events hall which is used for many different things throughout the year.
In terms of Accomodation, Butler has 400 bedrooms which are spread across a total of three accommodation blocks (Milfield, Dilston and Kirknewton).
Kirknewton is the smallest block closest to the Bar and is where most of the postgraduate accommodation is, there are also a small number of undergraduates in this block but the majority of them are in Milfield and Dilston. The blocks are all divided into flats which have six rooms and share a kitchen.
All the bedrooms are of the same size and facilities. Not only do you get your own en-suite bathroom but there are computer and television points, but don’t forget your TV Licence (Jonathon Ross doesn’t come cheap!).
There is a large desk complete with a lamp and chair and a raised book case attached to the wall. There is a large wardrobe, drawer unit and a bed.
The kitchens are also very well equipped. Obvously there is an oven, sink, fridge and freezer for your use, in addition to a dining table with six chairs, and a further four comfortable chairs. There will be a couple of cupboards for you to make use of and also a toaster, kettle and microwave.
