Butler Angels - Giving you wings...

Now that term is over, it is a perfect time to contact a Butler Angel and think about you future.  The Angels are alumni and friends of the College, who volunteer to assist and advise you on career choices and job applications.  Why not contact an Angel today?  It takes seconds through http://www.durham.ac.uk/butler.angels, and the advice and tips that you receive could be invaluable.  Even if you don’t know what to do after graduation, why not browse through the Angels?  With over 100 who following variety of paths, they may be able to spark some ideas.  They want to help you, so don’t be afraid to get in contact!  The initial email can be very basic.  Just introduce yourself, explain why you are contacting them and politely ask for some advice.

If you need convincing about the value of the Angels, read an interview with Kyle McManus, 3rd year historian, about how the Angels have helped him in his job applications.  The interview is written in full on the Butler Alumni blog.  In the interview, Kyle says:

‘When I first used the Angels scheme I genuinely didn’t expect to receive as much help as I was given and I still cannot believe how useful the scheme has been. Not only would I recommend the scheme to other students, but I would point out that due to the huge amount of competition there is in the job market, you would be a fool not to take advantage of such an amazing schemeIt was through the Angels scheme that I was able to gain inside information and news about the company that looked impressive in the eyes of the assessor.’

Check out the blog for the full interview.
