Energy Competition - WIN £400 FOR OUR JCR!!!

Butler is currently sat in 2nd place in the inter-collegiate Energy Competition (about 0.1% behind Cuths in 1st). The Competition challenges Colleges to reduce their energy consumption as much as possible compared to measurements taken in the first couple of weeks of term.

If we win, we get £400 FOR OUR JCR!!! Do your bit to help us to win the money and the pride. The competition runs until the end of term, so turn those radiators off in the warm weather, turn off those lights, cook in groups, have shorter showers, and do anything else that you can think of to help us win as a College!

What can you do this Societies Week??

What can you do this Societies Week?

1) SIGN UP FOR THE SOCIETIES FORMAL! You don't have to be a part of a society to do so. There are still places left, so book on with your friends for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic evening and the start of another great Butler tradition.

2) Come to the Societies Showcase tonight at 7pm, to see performances from your fellow Butlerites - Troupe, Dance Soc., Choir, STAB, Show Choir, Jazz Band! If that wasn't enough, Charities Comm. will be selling pancakes with Fairtrade toppings.

3) Come to the Epiphany Music Concert on Thursday at 7pm for a breathtaking array of group and individual performances.

4) Come to Butler Live this Saturday. Starting at 7:30pm, with a line up to rival any music event in Durham, this is ONE NOT TO MISS!! Michael Cassidy is headlining (supported Ben Howard on tour). Other performers are our very own George Wade, folk-rock band The Sail Pattern (whose front man is Joe Alderson, a fantastically musical Butler alumnus) and Liv & the Lionhardts.

5)
Fill in the poll on the home page of the JCR website about societies, so that we can figure out exactly how to improve and develop our societies. Regular feedback is the key to a better JCR.

6) Onthe JCR website, go to the 'Get Involved' tab, find a society that might interest you, and contact the society President. Why not try something new and go along with a friend to their next meeting?
