The College is always open to new suggestions, so if you have interests that aren't represented then it's really easy to set up a new society with the help of your College officers.

Music

Josephine Butler has several thriving music societies that you can join, whatever you play and whatever style of music you enjoy. We have a jazz band, an a capella group, a choir and a rock/alternative music society.

Drama and Musical Theatre

Our theatrical arts group, Society of Theatrical Arts at Josephine Butler (STAB), is very popular, putting on performances throughout the academic year. Past performances include appearances at our annual murder mystery formal dinner.

Cooking Society and Pudding Society

Being self-catered, Josephine Butler uniquely has the facilities for two of our thriving societies.  Both our Cooking Society and Pudding Society are opportunities to develop culinary talents or to indulge a sweet tooth!  Whether through attending the weekly sessions or producing biscuits and cakes for charity events, they are a great opportunity to make friends and get involved with college life.

Publicity Committee

Josephine Butler is well-known for the high quality, professional posters and publicity produced for college events by our own Publicity Committee - made up entirely of students. Utilising a top-of-the-range Mac Pro, becoming a member of 'PubCom' allows you to let your creative side out, as well as developing valuable skills and seeing your work displayed around college.
