About 1/3 of our postgraduates live-in at any one time, in our single, en-suite and self-catered flats.  We are a mixed College of postgraduates and undergraduates, reserving a quieter block for our postgraduates, but still at the heart of our community!  Our accommodation is organised into flats made up of six rooms and a large shared kitchen.

Flats are available on a fifty week let basis from the start of the academic year, but please contact us if you require a special/longer arrangement by emailing butler.admissions@durham.ac.uk with your requirements. Accessible accommodation is available; please contact us to enquire.

Each study bedroom has:

  • Computer Network Point (ESOL - EnSuite On-Line)
  • Television Aerial Socket(*)
  • Desk and desk chair
  • Desk lamp
  • Bed
  • Wardrobe
  • Drawer Unit

A typical bedroom is about 4.60 metres by 2.60 metres (including the en-suite block). There are a number of larger rooms designed for students with disabilities - please make sure the Senior Tutor & Vice Principal is aware of any special needs you may have which could affect your allocation of room (e.g. wheelchair user).

(*) Note - if you have a television in your room, you will need a separate TV licence for it. We recommend students put a shared television in the kitchen/lounge area and purchase a licence together, rather than have an individual television and licence.
