How it all works

The MBA student

Our full-time MBA students come from around 30 different countries, bringing with them a wealth of cross-cultural ideas and international experience:

Support from the School

To make your experience with Durham University Business School as positive as possible we will:

  • Collaborate with you to generate project ideas
  • Ensure that the project is capable of meeting academic and organisational requirements
  • Assist in matching your criteria with MBA students and draw up a shortlist of potential candidates for you to select from
  • Answer or follow up on any queries or concerns
  • Gather your feedback to ensure a professional, useful and relevant service

Requirements of your organisation

  • the specification and scope of the project
  • a main contact/mentor to provide guidance and support to the student
  • access to relevant company information 
  • reasonable out of pocket expenses (eg. travel and accommodation if required)
  • time and resources   

Confidentiality: Many projects undertaken by our students involve access to confidential company information. Participants on the Durham MBA are required to maintain complete client confidentiality. Business Project reports will not be placed in a library or released for wider readership without your prior consent.

Timing

January to March: outline the scope of the business project
April:  Students and match to host organisations
May: Host organisations and students define the aim and objectives of the project
June to September: Business Project is undertaken
