The recipient of the 2003 Lendrum Undergraduate Scholarship, Sarah Kemp, graduated with a first class honours degree in Business Finance at Durham Cathedral on 30th June 2006.

Aged 21 and from Stockton on Tees in the North East of England, Sarah’s studying days are not quite over yet as she joins PricewaterhouseCooper as a trainee in their audit and assurance sector and, at the same time, will be studying towards becoming an ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant). The Lendrum Undergraduate Scholarship, set up by a Durham University Economics Alumnus to support high achievers from the North East of England, is awarded annually to a student who has gained the highest qualifications upon entry to study a degree in the field of Economics and Finance. This scholarship was made possible by the kind donation of Mr Chris Lendrum, (St Cuthbert's Society 1965-68) who graduated in 1968 with first class honours in Economic History and Economics, and who subsequently pursued a highly successful career in finance. Chris chose to make his gift to Durham in the form of an endowment which enables this annual scholarship to be awarded in perpetuity due to the accruing interest from the donation. Sarah commented: “I was surprised and honoured to be awarded the scholarship and it was a great pleasure to meet with Chris Lendrum again on the occasion of my graduation. “
