Study Methods
The Centre for Global Learning and Executive Education is dedicated to innovation in distance learning and continuing education. The goal of the Centre is to bring Durham University to you and, to this end, we have developed a range of study modes to suit the needs of our individual and corporate clients, irrespective of international borders and time zones.
There are three primary modes of study offered by the Centre:
- Distance learning: Study at your own pace wherever you are in the world, drawing upon the latest textbooks and Durham-authored learning materials, together with our state-of-the-art virtual learning environment
View a sample of some distance learning content - Block teaching: Study in the classroom alongside your peers either in Durham itself or at one of our study centres worldwide, with block-scheduled delivery to ensure minimum disruption to career and lifestyle demands
- Blended-learning: Combine both distance learning and block-taught modules within a single programme of study, tailoring your learning to individual and organisational needs
Whatever mode of study you follow, you will receive a high-quality learning experience developed by faculty members at the forefront of their subject, together with dedicated academic and administrative support. We also offer annual Summer Schools on our part-time Masters programmes, where you can meet faculty and network with other participants on your own particular study programme, and even provide opportunities for you to join a Durham college.
Here at the Centre for Global Learning and Executive Education, we simply don't accept that studying part-time and off-campus means that you should ever have to compromise on any aspect of the Durham University experience and all of our courses and programmes are driven by that philosophy.
