Durham University Business School is an internationally renowned research-led business school. The strength of our research underpins the first class reputation of the School, as it ensures that the curriculum always reflects the latest developments and that new knowledge quickly finds it way to students and corporate clients.
Durham University Business School participated in RAE08 and received detailed feedback in January 2009. Of the research assessed, 95% is of International Quality and above. This positions the School 19th in a total of 90 schools within the business and management sector (based on the Grade Point Average score). More about RAE2008.
Our doctoral programme has ESRC recognition, and the DBA is one of only five recognised by the same body. Research engages with practice through policy bodies at regional and national levels, and is supported or commissioned by organisations such as the ESRC, the Leverhulme Trust, the NHS, the Department for Trade and Industry as well as private enterprise.
The reputation of the School’s research is further enhanced through its international collaboration with leading international universities such as Fudan University, Duke University in North Carolina, USA and the University of Tokyo, Japan.
Research focuses on Finance and Accounting; Economics; Decision Science; Strategy & Organisation; Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour; Business Ethics and Public Management; and Entrepreneurship. It is structured around a number of research groups and centres of excellence.
