Accommodation

Durham is a collegiate university, and all full-time students at Durham University belong to one of our 16 colleges. You will remain a member of your college throughout your time at Durham and after you graduate.

Durham University's college system is arguably the most distinctive feature of the University. The colleges foster a strong sense of community and belonging and many students say that being part of a college helps them to settle in very quickly.

The colleges also provide a wide range of activities and facilities for study, sports, the arts, socialising, relaxation and welfare.

Ustinov College

Many students choose Ustinov College. This college accepts only postgraduate students and is the largest collegiate community of postgraduate students in the UK. It is conveniently located near the Business School. (Ustinov College is no. 52 [B10] and the Business School no. 1 [A7/A8] on the University map.)

Ustinov College provides self-catering accommodation in single study bedrooms and also has a number of flats for families. You can find out more about the accommodation options on the Ustinov College website.

Other Durham Colleges

Some of the other colleges are able to offer accommodation to postgraduates. If you do require college accommodation you will need to apply directly to the college.
