Career Support

At Durham we regard careers support as an integral element of our MBA programmes. Whatever your individual needs we work with you to help you identify your career aspirations and give you the opportunity to develop the skills that will help maximise your chances of achieving these.

Our career and skills team have extensive experience in HR, recruitment and career coaching and provide a dedicated service to MBA students and graduates offering one-to-one appointments, workshops, events throughout the year and career resources.

Individual appointments tailored to your needs

A Career Consultant provides professional advice and help in key areas such as: career planning and strategy; CVs and applications; routes into the job market; self-employment; and job search.

Further support through specialist organisations and individuals to assist you in turning your career plans into reality.

Career skills workshops

A programme of career workshops are organised throughout the year to enhance essential personal career skills. The programme changes every year but the events for the current cohort include:

Sector Specific Presentations

Simulated Sessions

Students are offered opportunities to develop skills to support them through the selection process including simulated interviews and assessment centres.

The career workshops are in addition to the Skills Development Programme which provides our students an opportunity to further develop their leadership skills.

IoD Diploma in Company Direction

After successful completion of the Durham MBA you will be eligible to fast track the IoD Diploma in Company Direction. With the IoD, you agree a route and exemption from attendance at some modules, though you must sit and pass the exam. For further information, please visit http://www.iod.com/.
