| 2013 | AMBA re-accreditation awarded for the maximum period of five years. |
| 2012 | Work begins in April on the extension and refurbishment of the School at Mill Hill Lane. |
| 2010 | Global Learning Centre established, offering blended learning at a variety of levels. |
| 2009 | AACSB accreditation awarded to Durham Business School. |
| 2008 | Professor Rob Dixon appointed as Dean of Durham Business School. School becomes official CFA Partner. All MBA programmes re-accredited by The Association of MBAs. |
| 2005 | School celebrates its 40th birthday. EQUIS accreditation awarded. |
| 2003 | All MBA programmes re-accredited by The Association of MBAs. |
| 2002 | Integration of the Department of Economics and Finance, the Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, and the Business School to form Durham Business School. |
| 2001 | Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme is launched. |
| 1999 | The Small Business Centre becomes the Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprise Development within the University. |
| 1998 | Barclays Centre for Entrepreneurship is established within the Business School. |
| 1998 | Within Durham University, the Department of Economics becomes the Department of Economics and Finance, and a departmental research centre is formed: the Centre for Empirical Research in Finance. |
| 1997 | Centre for Executive Education is established from the existing Centre for Management Development. |
| 1994 | AMBA accreditation awarded for full-time, part-time and distance learning MBAs. |
| 1986 | Full-time MBA is launched, developed from MSc degrees. |
| 1971 | The Small Business Centre is established within the Business School. |
| 1965 | Business School established. |
| 1963 | New Department of Economics established, now offering postgraduate training. |
| 1955 | New Honours degree in Economics, Politics, Social Theory and Institutions. |
| 1946 | The Department of Politics becomes The Department of Politics and Economics. |
| 1931 | First formally trained economist appointed by the University (Laurence Helby) who expanded the library and increased the popularity of Economics. |
| 1912 | The University appoints first lecturer in Economics. |
| 1886 | Political Economy introduced as one of the formal disciplines taught at the University. |
| 1879 | Durham University organises a series of informal regional lectures for the public. ".....to educate the public...in the laws which regulate the rise and fall of wages, and the supply and demand of material" in order to "remove many popular errors which have before now been the cause of considerable social difficulties". |
